APPELATION: DO Bierzo
WINEMAKER: Raul Perez
ABOUT THE WINE: It is made with grapes of the mencía, bastardo and garnacha tintorera varieties, from the plot La Poulosa, located in Valtuille de Abajo (León), where vineyards date from 1940. The plot, of 2 hectares and with a density of 4200 plants per hectare, has an altitude of 550 meters, the soil is clayey with pebbles and is oriented to the east. Fermentation takes place in large open vats with 80 percent of the stalk and maceration lasts for 60 days. After this time, the wine is transferred to used French oak barrels where it is aged for a year. It is bottled without clarification or filtering.
TASTING NOTES: This wine elaborated by César Márquez and Raúl Pérez shows a great variety of fruity notes in nose, with special incidence of red fruits such as strawberries, raspberries and cherries. In mouth it gives a great balance between tannins and acidity. It is deep, pleasant and intense.
